Hey the beautiful soul! Welcome back!
How like God to start a month by pointing me back to His Word, the one thing that never runs dry.
Two months ago, about the beginning of the month, I didn't feel too excited about the next bible study theme. To be honest, I would have preferred the books on my reading list. I even thought, "Maybe I’ll just take a break this year ...". Then I paused.
How does one take a break from God’s Word???
Nothing else in my life takes a break; work, bills, responsibilities. Yet somehow, the thing that actually sustains me felt like the thing I could set aside???
That’s when Joshua 1:8 hit differently. And might I add that the Holy Spirit clearly has a better memory than me, because He also reminded me I had once prayed this very verse!
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” – Joshua 1:8
As I wrestled with my Bible Study hesitation, I also remembered Psalm 119:105: “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Another sting.
And when I sat with it longer, Michael W. Smith’s “Ancient Words” echoed in my mind: “Holy words long preserved for our walk in this world, They resound with God's own heart. Oh, let the Ancient words impart. Ancient words ever true, changing me and changing you.” That was it.
I am called not to glance at Scripture now and then, but to let it linger, like a song stuck in my head. That’s what keeps me steady when life feels shaky.
So here’s where I landed: I’m continuing with Bible Study, not because I feel overflowing excitement, but because I know God will meet me through His Word. His Word will change me even when I am weary, even when I am reluctant. His Word gives me direction keep me steady.
So, it's not optional - it’s my lifeline. And I betcha He’ll blow my mind with something new about Himself. Probably something I needed, and a friendly reminder that I’m still very much in the ‘rookie league’ of knowing Him!
Stay tuned, stay blessed!
Harmoniously yours!
